Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" Beta 2 out!!!

The Ubuntu team has announced the final beta release of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Desktop, Server, Cloud, and Core products. It is codenamed “Precise Pangolin” and integrates the latest open source technologies into a high quality Linux distro. Learn more about the latest beta release.


Along with Ubuntu 12.04, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Mythbuntu and Ubuntu Studio have also reached Beta 2 status. The following are the changes in the latest release since Beta 1.

  • Ubuntu kernel updated to 3.2.0-20.33 based on the v3.2.12 upstream Linux kernel.
  • Updates to the HUD, can be accessed by tapping the Alt key and entering characters.
  • LibreOffice updated to 3.5.1.
  • Now sports a new control panel that provides an installer, setup wizard, ability to add/remove folders to sync, and so on..
  • Ships with the latest milestones of OpenStack Essex (RC1)
  • Zentyal and  OpenMPI 1.5 for ARM now available in Universe.
  • KVM 1.0 on x86 now allows a virtualisation experience within cloud instances.
