Posted in:Rationale

Users who are waiting for the transition from Windows to Linux might be bored or not really attracted with the classic Gnome's interface or KDE's cluttered looks till now. Too bad if they did not cathch a glimpse of the Compiz effects. The time has finally come for their sorrows to go down the drain. Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narhwal is going to be released today, April 28th Thursday

What's up the sleeve?

The Unity interface stuffed with Launcher and Dash is making a hell lot of buzz in the community about whether we should use it or not, ditch it with Gnome 3 or going through some Unity manuals to get used to it! Many opinions are cropping as a result of the discussions. Most of the folks are focusing on the usability factor! Yes, newbie’s who got the Natty desktop after the straight forward upgrade from Maverick might be on a new planet! But I feel sorry for them for not reading the previous posts on Ubuntu Manual and other related blogs as that might help in the above scenario.

One thing special in this release unlike the previous ones, especially the Lucid one, is that there isn't a lot of hype about the eye candy. We have enough reasons for it to be brought to the forefront.

Release Party

What's the best way to celebrate the birth of Natty? Obviously the best way to celebrate it would be to install it on your machines. Of course you can always start a release party to promote the new avatar of Ubuntu.

But whats in store for users who are not interested in getting out of their homes?

As usual an IRC based Release Party is there for this release as well. Hence, don't hesitate today to fire up your IRC client to join '#ubuntu-release-party' channel to see the joy of thousands of users worldwide!

Locate your nearby release party from this pagehttp://loco.ubuntu.com/events/global/744/detail/.

Now, after a couple of hours, you will get the sleek banner on the Ubuntu website announcing the much awaited release. Until then, keep reading Ubuntu Manual to get the official news announcement.
