World of Goo is a puzzle game with a highly efficient physics engine. It has won many accolades from across the world since its release. It was initially available for Wii, Windows and Mac, but lately, its available for Linux as well.
When i first tried this cute little game in my ubuntu machine, i was amazed by its slickness and the fun factor. Though i never bought the original version(i am not much into gaming), i really liked the demo version. This is indeed a must have for Puzzle lovers.
According the official blog of World of Goo team, Linux version of the game constituted around 4.6 per cent of the total number of downloads immediately after the release a year ago. Though the game itself is not free(as in beer and as in freedom), a demo version is available which is free and installation is a click away.
Here are some screenshots.

Neat graphics and an awesome physics engine makes it a real deal.

Original version is not free and it costs around 20USD. There is a FREE demo version also available. You can either download the Demo version or you could buy it right away from 2DBoy.
Download the demo version for Ubuntu. Double-click to install the .deb package. Have fun:-)

I found this to be a fun game and a great edition to add to the Linux box (or any other box). I have enjoyed playing this game repetitively and find it a nice break from the normal hack-n-slash games that are the staple of my gaming diet. I would recommend picking up a copy.
There are plenty of free fun physics-type games out there. World of Goo is one of the more boring ones. I don't know how "highly efficient" its physics engine it, since all you do is make bridges out of gooey slime. Who knows the physics of slime? I agree, it is fun for about 10 minutes until you realize that all you ever do is make the same old bridges out of slime every round.
I really like Icebreaker, a java game where you have to free vikings entombed in ice. There is a phsyics engine there too with swinging ropes, rotating structures, sliding blocks of ice all interacting accurately with each other. The puzzles are much more interesting along with better cuteness and fun factors. Since it is java, it also runs on Linux.
I'm sorry, you can like WoG or not but I think you haven't played it, there are swinging ropes, rotating structures, winds, liquids and different types of Goos.
Thanks for the comment. May be it is not a great game and as you said, it might be boring as well. But all i was saying was that i thoroughly enjoyed the game and i thought may be i should share it with other like minded people.
And i don't think i am the only person who liked this game. Here is a quote from wikipedia,
Both Wii and Windows versions of World of Goo were well-received, holding an aggregate score from Metacritic of 94/100 and 91/100 respectively. On GameRankings, it holds an aggregate score of 91% for the PC. Eurogamer called World of Goo "Physics' latest, purest, and most brilliant gift". WiiWare World gave the game 10/10, saying "Not only is World of Goo easily the best WiiWare release to date, it's also proof that you don't need a large development team or millions of dollars to create an outstanding video game."
