Twisted Matrix Laboratories has released the new Twisted 11.1.0 with a lot of new features, a lot of improvements as well as bug fixes.
GNOME 3.2.2 stable release has been launched yesterday. This is the third update to GNOME 3.2 which is the second of the stable release.

Finally, the support for Ubuntu 8.04 LTS has come to an end. Beginning from 12 May 2011, the desktop edition of Ubuntu 8.04 LTS will not offer new updates, security updates and critical fixes. However, the Ubuntu 8.04 LTS’s server version will continue to be supported till May 2013.
Salix OS13.37 "Xfce" edition has been released. Soon after the launch of Slackware 13.37 the fresh release of Salix 13.37 was made. George Vlahavas announced the release of the first of the Salix OS series that operates on various desktop environments and window managers. Salix 13.37 is based on the new Slackware Linux 13.3. With several changes and improvements, Salix Xfce 13.37 has brought a smile on the faces of all Linux enthusiasts.
Sundar Pichai, head of Google’s Chrome browser, said that the browser has 160 million users presently when compared to the 70 million last year. Constant speed boosts and enhanced features have made Chrome popular. With enhanced features like Canvas 2D, and WebGL, Google Chrome delivered 100x improvements in rendering and this had enabled them to compete against Internet Explorer 9 in Microsoft’s Fishy test.

The man behind Ubuntu, Mark Shuttleworth, has challenged the Ubuntu Developer Summit in Budapest, Hungary to bring 200 million Ubuntu users by 2015. According to Canonical, Ubuntu has 12 million users currently and wants the figure to increase to 200 million in the next four years.
David Braben, the popular game developer in the UK has created one of the smallest pocket PC costing just $25. Named as Raspberry Pi, this fully-configured pocket PC can be installed with Ubuntu and other open-source operating systems.
Homebrew developers have introduced a custom firmware update for the Sony PlayStation 3. This will restart the OtherOS functionality, which was banned from the company, for over 12 months. The new OtherOS++ firmware helps to set up Linux next to the PS operating system by Sony and is expected to be very easy for the developers.
The Sabiliy team announced the launch of their latest release of Sabiliy based on Ubuntu 11.04, code named Al-Badr. This new version contains the new "Al-Badr" pictures and wallpapers as well as the latest Plymouth and GDM themes. Sabily is yet another distro based on Ubuntu and features a host of Islamic software. It was previously known as Ubuntu Islamic Edition.
Mozilla reports that its developers have put together Linux builds of its Open source browser, Firefox 4 with version 4.5 of GCC, or the GNU Compiler Collection.The latest builds are expected to function properly even when used with the earlier Linux platforms, be it Red Hat or CentOS 5. On the whole, they support GNU standard libstdc++ library from GCC 4.1.
Peppermint OS is yet another Ubuntu based distro. Based on Ubuntu 10.04 it is build to be web centic and focused on working in the cloud. This makes it extemely fast and responsive, giving it extremely fast boot times. With a less than 512MB HDD footprint, it can be easily run on a live CD or a USB.
The US spooks advice to businesses to adopt Vista or Windows 7, have upset all Linux enthusiasts. Though the suggestion is made considering the security factors, Linux has unfortunately failed to capture their attention.
