Fuduntu 2012.1 available for download
The first release of Fuduntu for 2012 is out. Like every release, this one also boasts of a host of notable improvements. Existing users can update their previous versions to enjoy the features of the latest version. As is evident,there has been a change in the release numbering format. Read on to find out more.
The Fuduntu installation ISO image (2012.1) that comes out as a quarterly is now available for download. Fuduntu is a Linux distro that is called so as it tries to be something in-between Fedora and Ubuntu. It has an aesthetically pleasing design, and is tailormade for portable computers like netbooks in addition to normal desktop systems. In future, Fuduntu releases will be numbered as follows: Year.Release
The package updates in v2012.1 includes the following:
- Linux Kernel 3.1.6
- Chromium 16
- Adobe Flash Player 11.1.102.55
- Several new packages like XFCE 4.8, LibreOffice 3.4.3, and Firefox and Thunderbird 9.
The improvements in this release are:
- Improved default theme
- Google Droid Sans font as default typeface
- GNOME Terminal no longer uses bold font by default.
- GIMP is no longer included in Fuduntu as a default.
- Newer packages are being added all the time
