Oracle has released NetBeans IDE 7.1.  Oracle hopes to continue its relationship with the Java Developer community with this release. NetBeans IDE 7.1 which is a free and open source IDE intended to help developers create Web and other applications rapidly is understandably the industry favourite when it comes to IDEs. NetBeans IDE 7.1 is the first IDE that supports the latest  in the Java platform, including  JavaFX 2.0 and JDK7. It works on  Oracle Solaris, Oracle Linux, other Linux distributions, Mac and Windows.It even offers support for the new Oracle WebLogic Server 12c, thus  bringing  JEE 6 support to developers who create applications on the Oracle WebLogic Server platform. The new release also features Swing GUI Builder enhancements, CSS3 support and tools for visual debugging.

The other notable enhancements include

  • Bulk refactoring tools enable project wide corrections and updates to code.
  • A new visual debugger helps control execution flow in terms of level structures in the UI.
  • Cluster and instance deployment support for GlassFish Server;
  • Improved PHP debugging
  • New Windows system APIs and support for multiple window layouts
  • Enhanced TopComponentGroup behavior; visual window layout designer

According to Ted Farrell,Senior VP,Oracle , "The latest NetBeans IDE release provides the Java developer community with many new features to help them create leading-edge Web, mobile and enterprise applications. As the first IDE to support JavaFX 2.0, NetBeans IDE 7.1 not only gives developers rich support for developing JavaFX 2.0 applications, but also ensures they have access to all of the advances delivered in the latest Java platform releases.”
