Firefox 3.5 is now officially released. And everyone is so desperately looking for a way to upgrade. I was too. After googling for sometime i found that as of now there is no apt-get upgrade kind of stuff to upgrade to this newer version. But instead i tried ubuntuzilla, a python script. And it worked like a charm.

With everyday, firefox is getting closer to the final version of Firefox 3.5. Already several release candidates are out and now is the time for the third one. Firefox RC3 is released and is available for download, which have fixes for bugs and other improvements based on the feedback got from the previous release candidates.

Firefox is once again in the news for all the good reasons. It has come up with the drastically improved Firefox 3.5 in less than a year after the release of Firefox 3.0. Originally touted as Firefox 3.1, it was later renamed Firefox 3.5 to better reflect the amount of changes that happened in this new release. IE is losing its market share rapidly according to data by webmetrics firm Net Applications. IE had seen almost 11 percentage drop in market share in the period 2008-09. And look who is gaining. Google Chrome and Safari is steadily increasing its market share. But the biggest gainer is obviously the open source stalwart Firefox.

If you have updated Ubuntu 8.10 recently, and after the completion of update, when you try to start firefox you would probably end up getting the following error message "Could not find compatible GRE between version 1.9b3 and 1.9b3". This is a small bug with the recent firefox updates. But there is an easy work around. Take a look.
